Travels to the East - PART III - Langkawi and Koh Lipe
What an exquisite island Langkawi is. If you're ever planning a trip to Malaysia be sure to incorporate some time for at least a week in Langkawi. The beaches are wonderful and there is so much to do. We ended up running out of time while we were there! We found the locals to be incredibly friendly and helpful and the food was wonderful. Plenty of night markets for those that like to shop and we had a fantastic time as a family with plenty for everyone to do (Aquariums, water sports, boat trips). We took a yacht cruise on one of our days which took us to a couple of the 99 islands scattered around Langkawi. Absolutely breathtaking scenary. Thailand was calling our name..and since its so close (1 and half hours by speedboat) we ended up going to Koh Lipe for the day. But be warned..we had to hand over our passports (which is the custom over there - due to the fact that you will be entering a new country, all passports have to go through immigration when leaving the island and returning.) Mine unfortunately went missing for an hour, quite distressing..but was eventually found. I have to say though..I would do it all again in a heartbeat. Those beaches were worth any amount of distress.
